What is MPEG-4 Simple Profile (SP)
MPEG-4 Simple Profile (SP) is designed primarily for devices with low processing power such as mobile and wireless devices and is ideally suited for video telephony, video-conferencing, or real-time desktop software encoding. MPEG-4 SP, also known as MPEG-4 Part 2, and MPEG-4 AAC, are key video formats adopted by Sony for its handheld entertainment device, the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP).

 Widespread Introduction and Support

The release of CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC prepares OEM customers for the widespread introduction of products and services based on the MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) and MPEG-4 SP formats. These formats support a range of video-based applications delivering the key benefits of small file sizes and high-quality video including the transmission of TV over DSL connections, via digital terrestrial TV (DVB-T), plus multiple high-definition video programs via satellite or cable services. The ability to store more high-definition content on DVD also offers attractive options for home cinema, while the improved reliability of MPEG-4 AVC, MPEG-4 SP and MPEG-4 AAC compression supports video and audio transmissions via mobile phone systems.
