Welcome to the magical tutorial kingdom
of PowerDirector 4. Spend as much time as it takes here to find
out information about how our magical editing tools assist you in
conceiving out-of-this-world home movies easily and quickly. That's
why they call it magic.

Have you ever experienced:
- boring home movies long on monotony,
short on action
- shoddy camera work, unbalanced
colors or poorly lit backgrounds
- countless hours in the cutting
room trimming unwanted video content
- painful times trimming frame-by-frame
but never quite succeeding
If any of the above ring true, you are in the right place
to learn about how to apply Magic Cut to your video. Purging
useless video content with Magic Cut is practically instantaneous.
With a click of a button, your original video will be divided
into a number of shorter clips/scenes that will noticeably
increase the pace of your story and dramatically decrease
audience attrition rates! |
| |
| To perform Magic Cut on a video clip, be
sure you have already imported the clip into your project's
library and have applied it to the timeline. |
1. |
Select the clip in the timeline.
Click Magic Cut button located on
the timeline. The Magic Cut dialog box prompts you. |
 |
| 2. |
Here, you may drag the sliders to set your settings. |
 |
|
The following options are available:
- New duration: Enter the preferred total duration
of all the new clips after Magic Cut has been applied to
the original video clip.
- Scenes with zoom/pan/motion: Scenes' selection
based on the degree of zooming, panning, and motion
- Scenes with people speaking: Scenes' selection
based on the extent of dialogue
- Duration of scenes selected by Magic Cut: Divides
and cuts up the original video into clips depending on your
preferences for a longer or shorter clip duration

| Note: If the video segment you are using is
shorter than 15 minutes in length, has been previously edited
(e.g. a theatrical release), or contains extremely important
moments, you may prefer to edit it manually - for example, by
using the Multi Trim function. See the User's Guide for more
information. |
