CyberLink PowerDVD 6's superior audio playback is delivered
via support for Dolby technologies and three CyberLink technologies
designed especially for PC-based home-theater systems.
This article introduces these advanced audio technologies:
second-generation CyberLink Multi-channel Environment Impression
(CLMEI-2), CyberLink Virtual Speaker (CLVS), and CyberLink
Headphone (CLHP).
1. CyberLink Multi-channel
Environment Impression 2 (CLMEI-2)
CyberLink's second-generation audio-expansion
technology offers two forms of processing: 2-channel to 4, 6, 7
or 8-channel audio expansion, and 6-channel to 4, 7 or 8 -channel
audio expansion.
CLMEI-2 also offers expanded sound for 5.1-channel audio when played
via a 4-speaker layout. Left and Right surround speaker audio is
processed through CLMEI-2 to produce more surround sound fields,
simulating additional speakers and a richer surround sound environment.
2. CyberLink Virtual Speaker
(CLVS)
CyberLink Virtual Speaker incorporates
a versatile set of digital signal processing technology, including
cross-talk cancellation, reverberation and positioning, to let users
perceive a highly convincing virtual surround sound effect. With
three modes simulating living room, theater, and stadium listening
environments, CLVS enhances audio playback via notebook and desktop
computer speakers.
CLVS
gives notebook users richer and more satisfying audio playback,
featuring broader directivity and a convincing multi-channel-like
sound field, even via built-in stereo notebook speakers. Desktop
computer users can also feel greater audio depth from a two-speaker
setup.
3. CyberLink Headphone
(CLHP) CyberLink
Headphone heightens the listening experience via standard stereo
headphones, ensuring that users feel less fatigued with more natural
omni-direction audio. CLHP is therefore a perfect solution for watching
DVDs via a notebook computer.
CLHP produces a 3D audio sensation by utilizing CyberLink's reverberation
and audio positioning technology to convert a multi-channel signal
into an enveloping sound. Audio positioning accurately converts
the input audio, channel by channel, into a simulated surround speaker
setting. Reverberation generates the sensation that sound is arriving
from an external source and not from inside the listener's head.
CLHP also features three simulated environments, including living
room, theater, and stadium.
4.
Dolby Technology Support PowerDVD also provides support for home theater systems
featuring Dolby audio technologies, including Dolby Digital EX,
Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Virtual Speaker, Dolby Headphone, and
DVD-Audio MLP Decoding.
CyberLink has incorporated these and other technologies into PowerDVD
